About Epic

Epic makes software for patients, staff and physicians of mid-size and large medical groups, hospitals and integrated healthcare organizations. Its integrated software focuses on clinical and revenue applications. Founded in 1979, Epic is based out of Verona, Wis., and has more than 4,000 employees.

Its customers include some of the top health care systems in the country: the Cleveland Clinic, Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York and the University of Chicago Medical Center.

When it’s all said and done, as much as 30 percent  of the U.S. population could be treated at hospitals or clinics that use Epic’s software.

Epic is widely recognized as a leader in the healthcare IT industry. Its products regularly receive high ratings in independent industry surveys measuring customer satisfaction and product functionality.

  • Epic was ranked No. 1 in six categories and as the No. 1 vendor overall in KLAS’ 2009 Year-End Top 20 Report.
  • The company was also placed in the Leader’s Quadrant in Gartner’s most recent Enterprise CPR Magic Quadrant for U.S. Enterprise CPR systems and achieved “Generation 3” status in the North American Enterprise Computer-based Patient Record (CPR) System Generation Evaluation.
  • Ten Epic clients have won the HIMSS Davies Award for their use of EpicCare to help improve patient safety, increase efficiency, and provide more cost-effective healthcare.
  • In addition, 95% of HIMSS Stage 7 Hospitals use Epic.
